Welcome to the HoTMetaL PRO sample Watch Web site. This is an entirely
fictional site created to demonstrate a few of the features of HoTMetaL and its
power over HTML. In this site you will find a number of advanced HTML features.
- The Home Page
- On this page you'll find a
Frameset referring to 3 other HTML pages (main.htm, index.htm, and
banner.htm). In HoTMetaL under the Help Menu you'll
find the "How-to" index, there is a tutorial on frames and frame
syntax, which will teach you everything you ever wanted to know about Netscape
frames.
- The Index Page
- If you open the The Home Page in
Netscape
Navigator you'll see that the index is interactive. This is done using JavaScript, open the index.htm in HoTMetaL and you'll see
how it was done. The JavaScript How-to that comes with HoTMetaL shows you how
to use JavaScript. The JavaScript used on this page was obtained from the JavaScript
Tip of the Week site.
- The Resellers Maps, Canada and the
US
- These pages have Client-Side Image Maps on
them. Open them in HoTMetaL and right click on the graphic, choose "image
mappings" and you'll see how easy it is to do this yourself. If you still
need help check out the How-to make Clickable image maps page.
- The Order Page
- This page has Form elements on it showing a
typical "order it over the Web" page. There is a bit of Javascript
here as well. Click on the "submit" button and see what happens.
There are 11 CGI scripts included with HoTMetaL and a How-to page teaching you
about Computer Gateway Interface and making your forms work for you.
- The Investors Pages, Numbers View,
and Text View
- These pages have been linked to the Cascading Style
Sheets in the investors directory and are therefore best viewed in a
browser that supports CSS such as
Microsoft Internet Explorer.
The Cascading Style Sheet Editor (access it through the HoTMetaL PRO
Information Manager under the "Tools" menu item) was used to make
these style sheets. Open the "numbers.css" and "text.css"
files (find them in the Cyberbolic view attached to "Numbers Style page"
and the "Text Style page" or in the "investor" directory)
and click on the "More" button to see which elements have been
assigned styles. The
World Wide Web Consortium has
set up the Cascading
Style Sheet Specifications. At the time of this writing the only browser
currently supporting part of CSS is Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0. Microsoft
have a
style sheet
gallery showing off their support. Netscape have announced that the 4.0
version of Netscape Navigator will support CSS.
